She can't not ask, even as she holds his hand, even as this is sort of something like what you see in a movie, minus the fact that he'd had to stand her in a corner because she couldn't handle the fact that the lobsters were alive. "Do you think the work'll run out, here?" It's a simple question, one that's not got any sort of judgement in it.

It is what it is, but she just has to ask. Neither of them are natives, and both of them, she supposes, could have to leave at a moment's notice, although she doesn't know where they'll go. She thinks he's still staying at the cabin like he'd told her, not that she knows where that is or anything, but she's wondering already how he got through the winters, before now.
