"I'll have you know I have perfect teeth," Joel answers, his mouth twitching briefly, though he manages to keep a mostly straight face. It isn't even entirely true, his front teeth are a little crooked, but he's never had a cavity in his life, something he's oddly proud of. Davin doesn't need quite that much information, though.

"I'm just not very good at parties," he admits, his voice dry, but he does finally smile. "I'm sure that comes as a terrible surprise, given how comfortable I was at your birthday party."
